LATEST ADDITIONS TO ELECTRIC PICNIC 2010 LINE-UP
While the weather changes its mind more often than a pop diva changes her outfit one thing Electric Picnic hope music lovers in Ireland can rely on is thrills, giggles and some very good music at Electric Picnic come the start of September. With just 6 short weeks left until this year's festival ELECTRIC PICNIC would like to whet your appetite a little bit more with another dollop of ten more music acts for picnickers to savour.

It has been one hell of a year for returning champions to Electric Picnic, Co Down's TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB . They released their debut single 'Something Good Can Work' back in March 2009. Soon after they began receiving regular airplay from the BBC's Steve Lamaq while uber cool French label Kitsuné quickly snapped them up. In just 12 months they have gone from being unknowns and now the release of their debut album "Tourist History" is approaching sales of 50,000 copies worldwide and hasn't left the top 200 in the UK and Tourist History is now firmly set to be one of the indie releases of the year.

Sweden's biggest musical export ROBYN makes her debut at Electric Picnic with her killer combination of natural pop nous and cool sassiness. Thirteen years after her smash hit Show Me Love cemented her as international pop star Robyn is still offering up an exciting mix of cool electronica, heartfelt pop songs and tracks that have all the hallmarks of becoming classic club hits. 2010 will see her release not one, not two but three albums with the hottest producers around such as Diplo, Royksopp, Kleerup and Klas Ahlund to make these ambitious plans a reality. The first taste of what to expect at the picnic this year, Body Talk PT 1, was released last month with the infectious lead single Dancing On My Own.

Folk darling 20 year old LAURA MARLING who has just been nominated for her second Mercury Prize for her undeniably brilliant second album I Speak Because I Can, will be providing picnickers with a sparkling live performance. I Speak Because I Can, the follow up to debut Alas, I Cannot Swim, has confirmed Marling as a critics' darling and cracked the UK Top Ten album chart. Alongside Mumford & Sons, Villagers and Foals; this makes Laura one of four Electric Picnic acts this year to be included in yesterday's Mercury Music Prize shortlist.

Starting out as the solo project of Peter Silberman with 2007's debut 'In The Attic Of The Universe' - THE ANTLERS are now a three-piece with the addition of percussionist Michael Lerner and multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci. They released Hospice in 2009 which ended up on the top of many Album of the Year Lists. Anybody that was lucky to get tickets to their last sold out show in Dublin in May can attest that The Antlers live show is not to be missed.

THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH
(aka Kristian Matsson) from Sweden, released one of 2008's most powerful records Shallow Grave. His follow up, The Wild Hunt, picks up where Shallow Grave left off. Having burst on to the live scene wowing audiences on a support tour with Bon Iver in the US, The Tallest Man on Earth has since enthused crowds with his voice, melodies and pure acoustic rock 'n' roll. As anyone who attended last month's show in Whelan's (sold out weeks in advance) will attest, he is not to be missed.

CYMBALS EAT GUITARS are the next US indie band hotly tipped for great things on this side of the Atlantic too. Forming only as recently as spring 2008, things started to heat up very quickly for the quartet from Staten Island, New York. Their independent debut Why There Are Mountains with Kyle "Slick" Johnson of Modest Mouse on the engineer desk was greeted with a glowing Pitchfork review. Their show in Crawdaddy last year has become the stuff of legend and now MTV have nominated them for Best New Band in the World.

London Electro trio CHEW LIPS return to EP fresh from the storming set in Dublin's Crawdaddy. Their debut album Unicorn released earlier this year received rave reviews across the music press with lead singer Tigs' vocals getting particular attention.

FANG ISLAND describes its sound as "everyone high-fiving everyone." And, the Brooklyn quintet's anthemic and soaring songs make it quite possibly one of few bands befitting such description. This New York 5 piece have already supported The Flaming Lips this year and their Electric Picnic date will mark the beginning of their European tour.

Dublin 4 piece the THE RIPTIDE MOVEMENT have been around since 2006 but released their first album What About The Tips Jars last year which was a top twenty hit for this blues rock outfit. Not a band to rest on their laurels they have already begun adding finishing touches to their follow up Hot Tramp and promise to bring their delightfully catchy sounds to Picnikers ears.

DONAL DINEEN is no stranger to the Electric Picnic stage and having already played his favourite records for a captivated audience at Body & Soul Solstice gathering last month he will return to Stradbally for a live show.

Cork native BRIAN DEADY'S blend of Soul, pop, disco, funk and doo wop will bring some welcome grooves Brian has been making waves stateside with airplay on KCRW and album track Land On The Moon featuring on Nightmares on Wax next compilation. His own release Interview received rave reviews and Brian will be performing at the Picnic as part of his European and North American tour.
