With just 4 months to go before the Electric Picnic 2010 unleash its myriad of delights, cogs are firmly in motion and furiously whirring away to announce an additional 8 new acts including the effortlessly cool EELS, Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominated FRIENDLY FIRES, one of the best DJs on the planet LAURENT GARNIER, Mancunian post-punk veterans THE FALL, along with BONOBO's first ever Irish show, STORNOWAY, FIGHT LIKE APES and CHANNEL ONE.

The dulcet tones of the EELS will be heard resonating across Stradbally lawns this year. 2010 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the band with their eighth studio album, End Times, being hailed as their "best record yet" by Uncut and garnering five reviews from all corners. Formed around Mark "E" Everett, Eels have released over a decades worth of beautiful music and with a back catalogue that includes Novocaine for the Soul and Susan's House they are certain not to disappoint.

The much lauded three piece FRIENDLY FIRES will be bringing their spectacularly energetic live show to Electric Picnic along with their eagerly anticipated second album as well as their mind blowing singles Paris, Jump in the Pool and Skeleton Boy from their sublime debut.

Frances' undisputed king of eclecticism LAURENT GARNIER makes a triumphant return to Stradbally with his latest album !Tales of a Kleptomaniac.

Mark E Smith's THE FALL released their 28th album their first on ultra-hip Domino records last week to massive critical acclaim with Mojo declaring 'the best album they have released in ages' and they follow on from a storming Dublin show last Thursday with a return to Stradbally.

Downtempo Ninja Tunes' act BONOBO will make their long-awaited first ever Irish appearance at Electric Picnic with an eight piece band. One of the coolest artists in the world right now the sampling genius follows up 2006 Days to Come with long awaited Black Sands.

Since the release of their first official single the Oxford five piece STORNOWAY have found themselves shortlisted for BBC's Sound of 2010 poll, played a sold out UK tour and appeared on Later With Jools Holland and declared The Guardians "new favourite band". Crafting hearty folk using banjos, violins and brass they are due to release their debut later in the year, having just signed to 4AD their debut album is Expect to be wooed by these creator of folk tinged pop.

The nation's favourite obnoxious pop combo FIGHT LIKE APES will be performing tracks from their on their hugely anticipated second album which will be released the week of EP. The forthcoming album is set to follow in the success of their debut album 'Fight Like Apes And The Mystery Of The Golden Medallion' which was released to acclaim in the UK, continental Europe, Australia and Japan and with the launch of a taster EP in the USA .

The Dublin quartet CHANNEL ONE debut 'Sound to Light' successfully earned them the title of Ireland's premier techno rockers. With layers of guitar, krautrock rhythms, electronica and the driving, hypnotic wall of noise have built their live reputation.

ELECTRIC PICNIC BATTLE OF THE BANDS

In addition to the international, Electric Picnic will doff its cap at Stradbally and include one of the best local acts, which will aptly play on the Cosby Stage. A Battle of the Bands competition will be held in Portlaoise to determine the most suitable act for the Cosby Stage and throughout the Summer a series of heats will be held in various Portlaoise venues, culminating in a final which will determine who plays the Picnic this year. More details on this will be announced soon.

And even more welcome news for festival goers, on listening to feedback from your good selves we have put in place a Ticket Installment Plan for this year's Electric Picnic to make things a little easier for those wishing to purchase a ticket. The scheme is open until the end of this month, 31st May.
